Each family holds a job that helps our classrooms and community thrive, from behind‑the‑scenes support to hands‑on classroom roles. These positions keep things running smoothly and help us build the caring, connected environment that makes Benson Hill unique.

School Positions

Help our whole school thrive! These roles support events, supplies, and behind‑the‑scenes tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

Auction Committee

Partner with the fundraiser to organize our spring auction.
Help gather auction items throughout the year (starting in fall).
Assist with the auction website or bidder book.

Buyer

Review monthly supply lists and purchase needed items.
Buy additional items requested by the board or teachers.
Submit receipts and reimbursement forms to the treasurer.

Special Events Committee

Plan and host school events (winter social, community gatherings).
Organize raffles, decorations, potlucks, and kids’ activities.
Share event details with the board and recruit volunteers as needed.

Laundry Helper

Take home and wash school laundry, then return it clean and ready to use.

Class Positions

Support your child’s class directly! These jobs focus on day‑to‑day classroom needs, special memories, and building a strong sense of community.

Playdough Helper

Make playdough as requested by the teacher using a provided recipe.
Occasionally prepare other sensory materials, doughs, or clays.

Yearbook

Take class photos and share them on BAND.
Design the yearbook and organize orders.

Excursion Coordinator (Eagles only)

Work with the teacher to plan field trips and handle logistics.
Collect and process payments.
Submit event forms for approval and share trip details with families.

Hospitality Coordinator

Organize class gifts (e.g., welcoming a new baby).
Coordinate support during family hardships (meal trains, etc.).
Plan Teacher Appreciation Week activities.
Welcome and train new families and arrange summer playdates.

Parent Scheduler

Maintain the parent work schedule.
Manage vacation and day‑off requests.

School Pet (Owls and Eagles)

Purchase supplies and submit reimbursements.
Maintain and clean the pet’s environment weekly.
Arrange care for the pet over breaks and long weekends.

Board Positions

Lead the way! Board members handle big‑picture decisions and essential operations that keep our co‑op organized, funded, and moving forward. These key roles are essential and are filled as soon as possible. Board members attend monthly meetings (usually the 3rd Wednesday of each month) and are exempt from cleaning nights. The presidents oversee the board and conduct monthly board meeting

The Secretary takes monthly minutes and posts them for our community.

Manages the school email, conducts tours of the school and registers incoming families.

Treasurer - treasurer@bensonhillcoop.org

Manages the schools finances such as collecting tuition, paying teachers and managing our bank account.

Fundraising Coordinator - fundraiser@bensonhillcoop.org

Organizes and tracks fundraisers for the school.

Health and Safety Coordinator - safety@bensonhillcoop.org

Oversees the health and safety of the school by reporting illnesses, tracking emergency supplies and filling out our health and safety checklist.

Organizes our playground work parties and repairs around the school.

Marketing Coordinator - marketing@bensonhillcoop@org

Create our quarterly newsletter, manage our social media and organize marketing efforts.

Bates Parent Coordinator - batescreditcoordinator@bensonhillcoop.org

Track and coordinate family Bates credits throughout the year, report to our Bates representative and communicate and send out reminders to parents who have not met their requirements.

Class Chairperson - Hummingbirds, Sparrows, Eagles

Represent the class for the board and help incoming families.
